The “Grande” transmission project in Tyler

Most of the commercial photography projects I have worked on have been located within an hour’s drive of San Antonio so scheduling and timing were not an issue.  Grande along with Westlevee were big gambles on timing; these required at least 5 hours travel one way.  I had to set aside a weekend and hope for the best in terms of weather and shooting conditions, and with few open weekends in October and November it was critical that everything went well.  Texas is mild this time of year, but there is no guarantee that it will not change quickly so I of course was very anxious to get on with the project.  Fortunately I had excellent conditions for the Grande location, and the timing was spot on.  With some light cloud cover and a sunset that was firing off brilliant color, I was able to capture the Grande transmission lines in fantastic fashion.

Westlevee Transmission Line

I have been working closely with the local firm M&S Engineering on numerous photography projects this year.  The projects have ranged from portraits to buildings, to subdivisions, to transmission lines, lots of transmission lines.  I have to add in here that M&S Engineering is a top tier business.  As a role model these are the guys to follow.  Their ethics, integrity, passion, and compassion spill over into every aspect of their company and personal life.

With the goal to overhaul their website, M&S set out on a mission to revamp the site from the ground up.  That has meant a completely new infrastructure, and all new photography.  Still in process, and not yet live as of 11-15-11, the site is coming together and I eagerly anticipate seeing the final result.  Providing the photography for the new site has been my role, and has taken me all over TX at this point.  Venturing into the commercial photography field has been a challenge and a thrill and I am proud to start showcasing some of the work.

The first post here is of the Westlevee transmission line project in Dallas.  Yes, there are going to be a lot of transmission line posts.  My job was to make them look sexy, appealing, and eye-catching.  Wow, I have been doing that with brides and grooms for some time now; that’s easy.  Transmission lines?  I’ll let you be the judge.

Props to my brother Shelby, for his patience in driving me around for the various shots.
